Adsorption/Desorption Capability of Potassium-Type Zeolite Prepared from Coal Fly Ash for Removing of Hg2+

The feasibility of using potassium-type zeolite (K-type zeolite) prepared from coal fly ash (CFA) for the removal Hg2+ aqueous media and adsorption/desorption capabilities various zeolites were assessed in this study. Potassium-type samples synthesized by hydrothermal treatment CFA at different intervals (designated CFA, FA1, FA3, FA6, FA12, FA24, FA48, based on hours treatment) potassium hydroxide solution, their physicochemical characteristics evaluated. Additionally, quantity adsorbed was order FA1 < FA3 FA6 FA12 FA24 current experimental design. Therefore, time is important to enhance adsorption capability K-type zeolite. Moreover, effects pH, temperature, contact time, coexistence elucidated. In addition, mechanism FA48 demonstrated. Our results indicated that exchanged with K+ interlayer (correlation coefficient = 0.946). Finally, onto could be desorbed a sodium solution (desorption percentage approximately 70%). revealed potential adsorbent media.
